Vol. 571 No. 3

Written Answers. - Course Accreditation.

Richard Bruton

Question:

23 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has been involved in discussions with University College Galway and the Association of Occupational Therapists in relation to the lack of accreditation for an undergraduate degree in occupational therapy. [21558/03]

The accreditation of the occupational therapy programme at NUI Galway is a matter for resolution between the university and the Association of Occupational Therapists of Ireland, as accrediting body. I am pleased to advise the Deputy of my understanding that good progress has now been made between the two parties in this regard and that the process of accreditation is in train. As a result, the students have now been informed by NUI Galway that the programme is going ahead as planned.
