Vol. 571 No. 4

Written Answers. - Registration of Birth.

Olivia Mitchell

Question:

435 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 16 who inadvertently gave incorrect information at the time of the registration of the birth of their daughter is experiencing great difficulty in now having this error corrected, if his attention has been drawn to the fact that this is not a change of mind regarding information given but a correction to an error and if this matter will be dealt with speedily. [22409/03]

The registration in question was not carried out in accordance with the provisions of section 7 of the Births and Deaths Registration Act (Ireland) 1880, as amended by section 49 of the Status of Children Act 1987. As such, a fresh registration is required. The General Register Office is currently in communication with the parties involved.
