Responsibility for the provision of health services in County Clare rests with the Mid-Western Health Board. My Department has been informed by the board that a voluntary organisation, Clarecastle Day Centre Limited, has proposed to build a day centre adjoining the existing centre, specifically for Alzheimer's sufferers. Plans have been drawn up by the committee of this voluntary organisation, and planning permission was applied for and approved.
The board has advised that dementia services in Clare are currently under review and a number of different options have been, or are in the process of being, proposed. Many factors, including funding, will be considered in relation to any proposed developments.
