There are three categories of knackery provided for under S.I. No. 248 of 2003 available as follows: category 1 – approval to remove hide of animal at knackery premises; category 2 – approval to remove hide of animal at premises and authorisation to feed certain parts of animal to dogs on the same premises; and category 3 – approval to remove hide of animal at premises and authorisation to feed certain parts of the animal to dogs in recognised kennels or packs of hounds.
