Vol. 572 No. 3

Written Answers. - Drug Treatment Services.

Pat Rabbitte

Question:

344 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health and Children if it is planned that the community treatment centres in the South Western Area Health Board will have their numbers reduced with a view to absorbing them into the new treatment facilities being prepared in Tallaght. [22807/03]

Responsibility for the provision of drug treatment services rests with the health boards in the first instance. I have been advised by the South Western Area Health Board that the new treatment facilities being provided in the Tallaght area are designed to enhance and add to the existing services both statutory and community and not reduce the availability of these much needed services in the area.
