Vol. 572 No. 3

Written Answers. - Residency Permits.

Tony Gregory

Question:

459 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform further to Parliamentary Question No. 387 of 24 June 2003, when a decision will be made on the application in question. [23019/03]

As I outlined in my responses to the Deputy's Parliamentary Questions Nos. 575 of 25 March 2003 and 387 of 24 June 2003, the person in question made an application for permission to remain in the State on 24 March 2003 based on marriage to an Irish national. Applications of this type currently take approximately nine months to process.

I can confirm that preliminary processing has commenced on the application and the immigration division of my Department has been in communication with the person in this regard. However, it is not expected that the application will be fully processed for at least another three months.
