310 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if home tuition will be approved for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if the case can be expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26547/03]
The child in question was in receipt of a home tuition grant during the 2001-02 school year. My Department considered an application for the retention of the grant for the 2002-03 school year. It was established, however, that the child is now attending a special school and, in the circumstances, it would not be the practice to continue to provide grant aid for home tuition. My officials confirmed the position to the family by telephone recently.
