Question:126 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health and Children the Government's proposals for the future of VHI; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27569/03]
Written Answers. - Proposed Legislation.
The Government's decision related to VHI's corporate status is that contained in the White Paper on Private Health Insurance which allows for it to be moved to the position of a public limited company. It is my intention to bring proposals to Government at an early date for legislation in that regard. Whether such legislation should contain provision for any further change in VHI's status has not been decided, but will be given consideration, in the context of the proposal being prepared by my Department for Government.
