Vol. 575 No. 1

Written Answers. - Industrial Disputes.

Arthur Morgan

Question:

95 Mr. Morgan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if her Department has a role in resolving an industrial dispute at a company (details supplied) in which workers at the company are seeking to join a trade union. [28012/03]

In cases where the parties to a trade dispute have failed to resolve their differences, the State provides the dispute-settling machinery of the Labour Relations Commission and the Labour Court. The experience and expertise of these services are available free of charge to parties in dispute. The responsibility for the resolution of industrial disputes lies, ultimately, with the parties concerned. It would be inappropriate for me to intervene in individual disputes.
