135 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism when funding will be approved for a swimming pool project, details supplied, in County Cork. [28735/03]

The application for a new swimming pool submitted by Cobh town council under the local authority swimming pool programme is under evaluation at tender stage. On the advice of its technical advisers, the Office of Public Works, the Department has sought details on the pool operator from the council so as to be satisfied that all operator requirements are incorporated in the tender documentation prior to approval. On receipt of this information, the proposal will be considered further.

The application by Youghal town council under the local authority swimming pool programme is for approval of a tender for the earth works part of the Youghal swimming pool project. The Department's technical advisers, the Office of Public Works, has advised that there are no technical difficulties with the application which is under consideration in the Department.
