Vol. 576 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

233 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the support and information available from his Department and the SEHB for those who suffer from Parkinson's disease; if direct assistance or home help is available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29010/03]

The provision of services for people living in Counties Carlow, Kilkenny and Waterford is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matters raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him.

John McGuinness

Question:

234 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the progress being made by his Department and the SEHB to provide a day care centre for those who suffer from Alzheimer's; if a proposal being put forward by the Kilkenny branch of the Alzheimer's Society will be examined; if he will meet the branch; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29011/03]

As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of health services in the Kilkenny area is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the South-Eastern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply direct to him as a matter of urgency.
