Question:

181 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Transport the respective numbers of pedestrians, cyclists and all other third parties that were fatally injured by vehicles on Irish roads for each of the years 1998 to 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29366/03]

Statistics relating to road accidents, based on information provided by the Garda Síochána, are published by the National Roads Authority in its annual Road Accident Facts reports. The most recent report is in respect of 2002 and the report, along with reports relating to previous years, are available in the Oireachtas Library.

The following table gives details of the number of fatalities broken down by road user category for the period 1998 to 2002.
