Vol. 576 No. 5

Written Answers. - Medical Certificates.

Fergus O'Dowd

Question:

346 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the application for a primary medical certificate by a person (details supplied) in County Louth; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29881/03]

The medical assessment for and granting of a primary medical certificate for the purpose of the disabled drivers and disabled passengers tax concessions scheme is carried out by the senior area medical officer in the relevant health board. The function assists the Department of Finance who has statutory responsibility for the scheme. Accordingly, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the North-Eastern Health Board to investigate the matter and to reply directly to the Deputy, as a matter of urgency.
