Vol. 576 No. 6

Written Answers. - Teachers' Remuneration.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

172 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a number of teachers of practical subjects in post-primary schools are being paid a higher diploma allowance while others with similar qualifications are being refused payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30224/03]

The allowance to which the Deputy refers is payable to holders of the higher diploma in education or a suitable equivalent qualification.

If the Deputy has particular cases in mind where he feels that the allowance should be paid, he may wish to forward details to my Department so that the matter can be examined.
