Vol. 577 No. 3

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Phil Hogan

Question:

191 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance if a slipway for the development of water sports and water safety will be provided on the River Nore, Kilkenny, as part of the flood relief scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30704/03]

I am advised by my officials in the Office of Public Works that ongoing efforts are being made to identify a suitable location for such a slipway on the River Nore, Kilkenny City. The location must be such that it will not cause interference with the integrity of the flood relief defences for the river nor disruption of public utilities. Various potential sites for a slipway are currently being assessed in consultation with the local authority and the relevant water-based interest groups.
