Vol. 577 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Accommodation.

Jim O'Keeffe

Question:

127 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on whether there is not enough bed capacity in Skibbereen community hospital for the requirements of a growing elderly population in its catchment area; and if there are proposals to provide further bed capacity in the hospital. [31709/03]

As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of health services in the Skibbereen area is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the Southern Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive of the board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and reply direct to him as a matter of urgency.
