Vol. 577 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospitals Building Programme.

Richard Bruton

Question:

129 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has received a tender for completion of the back entrance to Beaumont Hospital; and if he will make arrangements to approve this quickly in view of the fact it has been a source of contention with neighbouring residents for a very long time. [31734/03]

Services at Beaumont Hospital are provided under an arrangement with the Eastern Regional Health Authority.

My Department has approved major equipment replacement and refurbishing works at Beaumont Hospital. I am advised that the hospital has incorporated within this programme a project to carry out alterations and upgrade to the existing pathway around the main campus ring. A design team was appointed to review the site development plan for the hospital and advise on the positioning and extent of roads and footpaths within the campus. This work has been completed and tenders were invited to undertake the necessary works. My Department is working with the authority and the hospital in progressing these works in the context of other prioritised projects within the refurbishment and equipping programme.
