Question:152 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the development of a neurosurgical unit for the west of Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31832/03]
Written Answers. - Neurosurgical Services.
I have asked Comhairle na nOspidéal to carry out a review of such services and to prepare a report for my consideration. The organisation has been asked to focus on the provision of adequate capacity and consideration of equity of access to the services having regard to best practice in the provision of quality healthcare. Its work on the services is ongoing. Future decisions on the development of same will be informed by its report.
