Vol. 577 No. 5

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

John Perry

Question:

69 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance further to the proposed programme of decentralisation set out in the Budget Statement, in respect of the relocation of 300 ordinance workers to Dungarvan, as there are only 200 employees based in Dublin; if this means that the six regional offices and in particular Sligo will also be relocated; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31897/03]

The relocation of 200 Dublin based OSI jobs to Dungarvan has no implications for the staff currently working in the survey's six regional offices.

Richard Bruton

Question:

70 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if there is a mortgage allowance for public servants who are required to move due to their work; and if such an allowance will apply in the decentralisation programme. [31921/03]

As I stated in my financial statement, the programme of decentralisation of Government Departments and agencies will be implemented through the transfer of staff on a voluntary basis. As such the payment of removal or relocation expenses will not arise. In circumstances, however, where staff are required to relocate, there is provision for the payment of removal expenses. A mortgage allowance is not provided for in such expenses.
