Vol. 577 No. 5

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

97 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to a school transport problem for a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31813/03]

In order to be eligible for school transport under the terms of the Primary School Transport Scheme, children must live at least 2 miles from, and be attending their nearest appropriate school. The postion in this case is that Donagh COI National School is the child's nearest appropriate school.

The child referred to by the Deputy is not eligible for transport to Moville COI National School, therefore, my Department is not in a position to sanction an extension of service.
