Vol. 656 No. 1

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32.

Anois, iarratais chun tairisceana a dhéanamh an Dáil a chur ar athló faoi Bhuan-Ordú 32. Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with requests to move the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss a matter of urgent importance, namely, following a meeting yesterday between HSE senior management, the Taoiseach, the Tánaiste and the Minister for Health and Children, at which the future of Roscommon County Hospital was discussed, there is now an urgent need for the Government to clarify its position on the downgrading plans for the hospital and state categorically if it has reversed its policy of the closure of small hospitals.

Ba mhaith liom go gcuirfí an Dáil ar athló chun déileáil leis an cheist thábhachtach seo — despite the Government and the HSE's recognition that Crumlin Children's Hospital has increased its outpatient activity by 8%, the number of inpatients dealt with by 2% and the number of day cases by 12.3%, the hospital is being penalised by the imposition of a staff cut of 120, amounting to almost 10% of the hospital's workforce, there is now an urgent need for the Government to support and respond positively to staff members who are staging a demonstration outside the hospital this afternoon by stopping and reversing the cuts at Crumlin children's hospital and instead intervening to halt the excessive waste of money by the HSE on unnecessary advisers and endless reports.

Tar éis breithnithe a dhéanamh ar na nithe ardaithe, níl siad in ord faoi Bhuan-Ordú 32. Having considered the matters raised, they are not in order under Standing Order 32.
