Business of Joint Committee

There was a vote in the Seanad which delayed our having a quorum. I thank Senator Whelan for attending so swiftly.

As members know, two groups are waiting outside, by prior arrangement: the Irish Offshore Operators Association, IOAA, and SIPTU. If we go into private business it could take up a significant amount of time. It is now almost 2.15 p.m. Do members want to take that now and try to get through it in 20 minutes, or defer it?

My preference would be to take private business now and try to finish it within 20 minutes. If there is any issue we cannot resolve fast we can choose to have a greater debate. We should try to get through all the home business.
