JOINT COMMITTEE ON EUROPEAN AFFAIRS debate -
Wednesday, 11 Jun 2003

Vol. 1 No. 31

Business of Joint Committee.

We have a couple of matters to attend to. The minutes of the previous meeting have been circulated. For accuracy sake, we need to make a minor technical amendment on the voting arrangements by inserting in the text words to the effect that super-qualified and double majority voting arrangements will apply in certain circumstances. Are the minutes agreed? Agreed.

I propose to note correspondence we have received from COSAC as it will be relevant to future discussions. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Regarding the draft programme and general information on the meeting of the Troika scheduled for 4 July, as Ireland is about to join the Troika, I will attend this meeting, the first of the Italian Presidency.

We have received notice of a workshop on enforcement of European anti-trust rules to take place in Maastricht, which relates more closely to the work of the Joint Committee on Enterprise and Small Business. I, therefore, propose to note it.

Should we not refer it to the other committee?

I understand the committee has also received notice of the meeting, but we will bring it to its attention. Our next meeting will be held on Friday, 13 June at 11 a.m. It will be an informal meeting at which we will meet a delegation of the Government of Croatia headed by its Minister for European Integration.

The joint committee adjourned at 4.15 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Friday, 13 June 2003.
