Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposal

The first item is the scrutiny of an EU proposal. We have only one to consider, which it is proposed requires further scrutiny. It is COM (2011) 788, a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing Erasmus For All: The Union Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport. The lead Department is the Department of Education and Skills and the other Department involved is the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. It is proposed that as this proposal is significant it warrants further scrutiny. In view of the fact that the Minister for Education and Skills is scheduled to attend a meeting of this committee on 2 May before he attends the Education, Youth, Culture and Sports Council on 10 and 11 May, it is proposed that the committee uses that opportunity to discuss this proposal in further detail with him and his officials on that date. We will ask the Department to keep us updated on all developments between now and then. Is that agreed? Agreed.
