JOINT COMMITTEE ON THE ENVIRONMENT, HERITAGE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT debate -
Tuesday, 27 Jan 2009

Business of Joint Committee.

Are the minutes of the meeting of 20 January 2009 agreed? Agreed. There is no matter arising.

The next item is correspondence. Document No. 2009/319 is a ministerial press release on Swedish investment in climate-proofed development and this is noted. An environmental policy newsletter update from Globe Europe is noted. Newsletter No. 36 from the European Water Partnership is noted. A list of decisions taken by the Joint Committee on European Scrutiny is sent for the information of this committee and is noted. Correspondence from Biocycle Limited following earlier correspondence will be dealt when drafting the committee's report on individual waste water treatment systems.

I will defer reference to the work programme for the coming year until the next meeting. I invite members to contact the clerk to the committee if they have any items to add to the work programme before the next meeting.

A draft report has been circulated on the visit by a delegation of the joint committee to Westport, County Mayo, on 9 to 11 January 2009 for the planning seminar. Our thanks to Deputy McCormack and Senators Coffey and Glynn for representing the committee. Is it agreed to approve the draft report? Agreed.

Sitting suspended at 3.38 p.m. and resumed at 3.40 p.m.
