Vol. 6 No. 8

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - SESSIONAL DEPUTY CHAIRMEN.

CATHAOIRLEACH

Before the Seanad proceeds to take up the public business, I wish to mention that a vacancy has occurred in the numbers of our Sessional Deputy Chairmen. For each Session we appoint two members of the Seanad to form a panel to take the place of the Chairman or Vice-Chairman in the event of both being absent through any cause. The vacancy has been occasioned by the fact that Senator Bennett is now Vice-Chairman and is no longer eligible to act as Deputy Chairman. I ask Senator Toal if he could see his way to act. Senator Toal would make an excellent Sessional Chairman. If it is the wish of Senators to appoint Senator Toal they will please say "Tá."

Question put and agreed to.
