Vol. 7 No. 17

TARIFF COMMISSION BILL, 1926—MESSAGE FROM THE DÁIL.

CATHAOIRLEACH

The following Message has been received from the Dáil:—

"Dáil Eireann has agreed to Amendments Nos. 1 and 3 made by Seanad Eireann to the Tariff Commission Bill, 1926; it has disagreed to Amendment No. 2, in lieu of which it has made the following amendment:—

"Tá Dáil Éireann tar éis aontú leis na Leasuithe Uimh. 1 agus 3 a dhin Seanad Éireann ar an mBille um Choimisiúin na nDléacht, 1926; níor aontuigh sí le Leasú Uimh. 2, ach tá sí tar éis an Leasú so leanas do dhéanamh ina ionad san:—

The insertion after paragraph 8 of the Schedule of a new paragraph as follows:—

"To what extent, if at all, the competition from imported goods to which the industry in respect of which the application is made is exposed is unfair by reason of currency depreciation or the grant of subsidies or bounties in the country in which such goods are manufactured."

The House will recollect that Amendment No. 2 was accepted by the Government and was moved, I think, by Senator Sir John Keane. The Minister for Finance thought it desirable to alter the form of words. I think it is only a formal matter. It was necessary to get the Dáil to disagree with our amendment and pass this new one.

I move—"That the Seanad agree with the Dáil in the said amendments."

I second.

Motion put and agreed to.
