Vol. 19 No. 10

Business of the Seanad.

The House will not meet again until after Christmas, and before we begin the business on the Order Paper I should like a decision to be taken as to the date to which we shall adjourn. I assume that we shall finish all the stages of the Bills which appear on to-day's Order Paper. The Bills which will fall to be dealt with at the first meeting after the holidays, are the Citizenship Bill (Second Stage), the Rates on Agricultural Land (Relief) Bill (Second Stage) and the Shannon Fisheries Bill in Committee. It will seriously inconvenience the county councils if there is any undue delay over the passage of the Rates on Agricultural Land (Relief) Bill. I have been in touch with the Minister for Local Government in regard to this question and he is agreed that if this Bill is taken on the 16th January it will be suitable to him, but the date fixed ought not to be later than that, for the reason I have mentioned. I accordingly suggest to the House that we fix Wednesday, 16th January, as the first day of meeting after the Christmas Recess. Is the House agreed?

Agreed.
