Vol. 27 No. 14

Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Bill, 1943—Second and Subsequent Stages.

Question proposed: "That the Bill be now read a Second Time."

This Bill is the annual continuing measure, its purpose being to continue the Defence Forces (Temporary Provisions) Acts, 1923 to 1942, in force for another year, that is, up to 31st March, 1944. It has not been found necessary this year to introduce any amendment of the existing legislation, so that there is nothing in the Bill which calls for any detailed explanation. I should be grateful if the House, with its usual generosity, would find it possible to give me all stages to-day.

I have no objection to the Bill going through all stages in the circumstances.

Question put and agreed to.
Bill considered in Committee.
Sections 1 and 2 and the Title agreed to.
Bill reported without amendment.
Question—"That the Bill be received for final consideration"—put and agreed to.
Question—"That the Bill do now pass"—put and agreed to.
