Vol. 54 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper, Nos. I to 4, and then Senator Sheehy Skeffington's motion, No. 6.

When will motion No. 7, which has been on the Order Paper for many months, be taken? Can the leader of the House give any idea?

I could not give any idea at the moment.

Will he bear it in mind?

It will be a heavy burden.

When will the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Bill, 1960, be taken? It has been on the Order Paper for more than a year.

There is more important business than the Bill in the name of Senator O'Quigley. It just does not happen that at the moment it is convenient to take it.

In view of the fact that a recent publication shows that we meet, on average, only 25 days, per year, would it impose too great a strain on the members of this House to meet to discuss a matter which is of such importance to the public?

That is a matter for the Leader of the House.
