Vol. 70 No. 6

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 19 and 2 in that order and to sit until 5 o'clock if necessary to finish business.

Before the Order of Business is agreed I should like to thank Senator Ryan and the Leader of the House for ordering a motion for today but at the same time to inquire whether a motion will be ordered for next Thursday in view of the fact that public business has already been ordered for next Wednesday and, if so, which motion is likely to be taken.

I am not in a position to say which motion and I think there is some doubt whether we will be able to manage a motion next week because I understand that there will be considerable Government business coming as from next week. I cannot say definitely at the moment but perhaps later on in the day I will be able to give further information.

Is this an intimation then that a motion will be proposed to vary our Standing Order on motions on Thursday for next week?

Possibly for next week but there will be no departure from the principle.
