Seanad Éireann debate -

Vol. 83 No. 11

Business of Seanad.

Before the Minister commences perhaps we could get agreement that if the Minister concludes, which I expect he will, before 10 o'clock we might vary the Order of Business to take the Juries Bill. Senator Lenihan and Senator Mary Robinson have been consulted on this and are agreeable. We anticipated that today's business would carry into tomorrow and we would take the Juries Bill amendments from the Dáil tomorrow, but it is possible to discuss the actual Dáil amendments only when they come back to us. As the amendments to the Juries Bill are those which were proposed in the other House by the Opposition, it is unlikely that there will be any controversy about them. It might entail meeting for only a few minutes tomorrow. If we could vary the Order of Business today the Minister for Justice is agreeable to come and do the Juries Bill after the Minister for Local Government has concluded. Can we agree to that?

Could I ask the Leader of the House has he any idea how long the Minister will take to reply?

About ten minutes.

Agreed to amend the Order of Business by the addition of the Juries Bill.
