The Leader of the House has indicated that the debate is going on after 6.30 p.m. Does he want the Committee Stage tonight?
Yes. As was indicated when we commenced this Bill, if the Seanad wishes to complete its discussion of it within 90 days from the receipt of the Bill, it will be necessary to take Report Stage on Tuesday and Wednesday next. I understand from discussions yesterday that the desire of the Members of the House was that, if it was not completed by 5.30 p.m. this evening, we would sit on and complete it rather than meet tomorrow. If any alternative view emerges during the day we can take account of it.
