I have notice from Senator Michael Ferris that on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:
The practice of purchasing milk without regard to its butter fat content, which has caused widespread disruption in the Golden Vale.
I also received notice from Senator John Ellis of the following matter:
The delay in processing applications by unemployed school leavers for unemployment assistance.
I also received notice from Senator John Browne of the following matter:
In view of the number of decisions by An Bord Pleanála upholding planning appeals contravening the development plan in Carlow the need for the Minister for the Environment to issue a general policy directive to the board in order to ensure compliance with a development plan in a given area, particularly Carlow.
I regard the matters raised by Senators Ferris and Ellis as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I regret that I have to rule the matter raised by Senator Browne is not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the ground that for the Minister to issue a policy directive in this matter would require amending legislation. I have selected Senator Ferris's motion for today's Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business.
Senator Ellis may give notice for another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
