Vol. 111 No. 16

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 6, 1, 2 and 3 and, if the House so wishes we would be prepared to take Nos. 3 and 4 together.

I want to make the point that the order has been changed from what I was given to understand yesterday. The motion on construction will now come third, whereas I understand it was to come last. It is one that I would like to make a contribution on, but I feel inconvenienced. I am sure there are other Members who would feel the same about this.

That is No. 3?

No, No. 2 on today's Order Paper.

The Order of Business was agreed. We changed the Order of Business by agreement with the House to facilitate the Minister to come in on No. 6 today. That is the Order of Business that has been agreed with the Whips.

There is always a difficulty about this, due entirely to Ministers being available.

May I ask the Acting Leader of the House when is it proposed to take item No. 33? This is an urgent motion. We have seen the family competitions gone from our television screens as well as some of our most popular programmes which do not cost the State or RTE any money. I would urge the Acting Leader to try to get it on the Order Paper for next week, if at all possible.

That is a 33:1 shot by Senator Cassidy, as all outsiders have to take their place. Senator McDonald will be here after lunch. He is dealing with that and I will give him your message.

I consider this motion deals with a very serious situation. It is not to be trivialised by any jocose remarks from the Acting Leader of the House. It is a serious situation. This was earning the State, and An Post in particular, an enormous amount of money. The revenue that was coming in was in excess of one million stamps per week.

Order of Business agreed to.
