Thursday, 19 Jun 1986

Vol. 113 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator John Connor that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to ensure that the Saharwi Question is on the Agenda of the next meeting of the EC Heads of State on the basis of self-determination or independence for the indigenous population of Western Sahara.

I also received notice from Senator Mick Lanigan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to give a commitment to ensure that the Irish Battalion of UNIFIL remain on duty in the Lebanon and to exert pressure at home and abroad on the UN to pay to Ireland any moneys due for service rendered with UNIFIL.

I also received notice from Senator Michael Lynch of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to outline the progress to date in the renovation work to the Garda Barracks, Oldcastle, County Meath, since the matter was raised in the House on 20 November 1985.

I also received notice from Senator Thomas Hussey of the matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to sanction the extension to Lavally School, Tuam, County Galway.

I regard the matters as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Connor's motion for today's Adjournment and it will be taken from 5 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Senators Lanigan, Lynch and Hussey may give notice for another day of the matter they wish to raise.
