Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 8 Oct 1987

Vol. 117 No. 3

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Philip Hogan that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The present position regarding building projects for the national schools at Lisdowney, Graiguena-managh, Mooneenroe and Castle-comer community school.

I also received notice from Senator Brendan Ryan of the following matter:

The urgent need for the Minister for Health to ensure that funds supplied by his Department to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children are used for the intended purpose.

I also received notice from Senator Maurice Manning of the following matter:

The need for immediate clarification from the Department of the Taoiseach and the Office of Public Works on the reported illegal removal from this country of £12 million worth of historical and archaeological artefacts; to ensure that all steps are being taken to have the artefacts recovered and to have assurance that the full rigour of the law will be used to ensure enforcement of the National Monuments Acts, 1987.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Hogan, Ryan and Manning as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Hogan's motion and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Ryan and Manning may give notice for another day of the matter they wish to raise.
