Vol. 117 No. 4

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Patrick Kennedy that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Government to establish a National Technological University, consisting initially of two constituent colleges, the existing NIHE at Limerick and Dublin, but with the capacity in time to include other constituent colleges.

I also received notice from Senator Brendan Ryan of the following matter:

The urgent need for the Minister for Health to ensure that funds supplied by his Department to the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children are used for the intended purposes.

I also received notice from Senator Joe Doyle of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to clarify the position regarding the future of Baggot Street Hospital.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Ryan and Doyle as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Ryan's motion and it will be taken from 8 o'clock to 8.30 p.m. or earlier if the business ordered is concluded. Senator Doyle may give notice for another day of the matter he wishes to raise.

I regret I have to rule that the matter raised by Senator Kennedy is not suitable for discussion on the ground that legislation would be necessary.
