Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 15 Oct 1987

Vol. 117 No. 5

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Nuala Fennell that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to reverse his decision to abolish the Health Education Bureau as the independent service it provided cannot be carried out within a Government Department.

I also received notice from Senator John Connor of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance through the agency at the Office of Public Works to provide financial and professional assistance to the restoration of the 17th century Church of Ireland Church and Cemetery at Frenchpark, County Roscommon, the resting place of Douglas Hyde, where a commemoration will be held in the summer of 1988 to mark the 50th anniversary of Dr. Hyde's inauguration as the first constitutional President in 1938.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Fennell and Connor as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Fennell's motion and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Connor may give notice for another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
