Vol. 117 No. 6

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Brian O'Shea that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House to-day, he proposes to raise the following matter:

When funds will be made available to build the new national school at Portlaw, County Waterford.

I also received notice from Senator Patrick McGowan of the following matter:

The bias in the selection of panels and speakers in studio audiences by RTE in current affairs programmes.

I also received notice from Senator Donie Cassidy of the following matter:

The need for the Government to restore Lough Sheelin Lake to its former pollution free state.

I regard the matters raised by Senators O'Shea and Cassidy as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator O'Shea's motion and it will be taken from 8 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. or earlier if the business is concluded. Senator Cassidy may give notice for another day of the matter he wishes to raise.

I regret I have to rule the matter raised by Senator McGowan as not suitable for discussion on the ground of lack of ministerial responsibility. I want to remind Senators that written notice has to be given of the matters again or else they will lapse.
