I have notice from Senator David Norris that, on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The condition of the Turner Glass-houses at the Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin.

I also received notice from Senator Philip Hogan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to examine the serious consequences that her proposed change in the pupil-teacher ratio will have on the pupils and staff of Tullow community school, County Carlow.

I also received notice from Senator Paul Bradford of the following matter:

In view of the reduction of the annual State grants to the community development association, Muintir na Tíre, the need for funding to be provided from the national lottery.

I also received notice from Senator Gerry Reynolds of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Industry and Commerce to establish a wood pulp factory in County Leitrim.

I also received notice from Senator Joe Doyle of the following matter:

The urgent need for the Minister for Energy to implement in full the recommendations of the Cremer and Warner report.

I also received notice from Senator Nuala Fennell of the following matter:

The need for the Government to clarify the current position of the National Social Service Board and to reaffirm its commitment to the future full functioning of the board.

I have also received notice from Senator Pascal Mooney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to seek an explanation from the British authorities of the incident at Leeds-Bradford Airport, when a leading Irish cultural representative (name supplied) was forced to enter his name in English on a landing card and the implications of this incident for other Irish citizens using British provincial airports and seaports.

I also received notice from Senator Katharine Bulbulia of the following matter:

The rapidly deteriorating ophthalmic services in the South Eastern Health Board.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Hogan, Bradford, Reynolds, Doyle, Norris, Fennell, Mooney and Bulbulia as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Norris' Motion and it will be taken from 8 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., or earlier if the business ordered is concluded. Senators Hogan, Bradford, Reynolds, Doyle, Fennell, Mooney and Bulbulia may give notice for another day of the matters they wish to raise.
