Vol. 121 No. 5

Request under Standing Order 29.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

May I interrupt the Senator. I have notice from Senator Gerry Reynolds regarding a motion which he wishes to move under Standing Order 29. I now call on Senator Reynolds to give notice of the motion before I give a ruling.

I wish to move a motion for the Adjournment of the Seanad on a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration. The matter to which I refer is the need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to intervene, as a matter of urgency, to prevent the loss of 600 jobs in Teagasc. It is my wish that the Minister would intervene and, as a matter of urgency, prevent 600 jobs being lost in Teagasc.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have given careful consideration to the matter raised by Senator Reynolds. I do not consider it a matter to be contemplated by Standing Order 29. Therefore, I regret that I have had to rule it out of order. I call Senator Farrell to continue.
