Vol. 121 No. 8

Prohibition of Incitement to Racial, Religious or National Hatred Bill, 1988: Order for Second Stage.

Bill entitled an Act to prohibit incitement to racial, religious or national hatred.

I move: "That the Bill be taken to day."

In regard to the last item, the Tánaiste, who is in the middle of a very busy schedule, which took in Bonn yesterday and takes in Madrid today, has expressed his satisfaction that part of the debate has taken place and that he will be in the House for the concluding part of this debate. Item No. 2 will be taken now.

Is the Leader saying that we finish Second Stage? I take it then that Second Stage will be concluded?

We are going on until 4.30 p.m.

Yes. If Second Stage is not concluded by 4.30 p.m. I take it that the Second Stage will be adjourned?

It does not arise now. Something could happen. If there are no speakers, the Minister will be coming in. That is how the House stands. If somebody wants to arrange that it goes on, he would want to make sure there are speakers.

That was not the question I asked. When it comes to 4.30 p.m. and the debate is not concluded, I take it that Second Stage will be concluded?

We are now taking Prohibition of Incitement to Racial, Religious or National Hatred Bill, 1988.

Question put and agreed to.
