Vol. 122 No. 15

Request Under Standing Order 29.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

Before I call Senator Ferris I have received notice from Senator Shane Ross regarding a motion which he wishes to move under Standing Order 29. I now call on Senator Ross to give notice of the motion before I give a ruling on it.

I wish to move a motion for the adjournment of the Seanad on a specific and important matter of public interest, requiring urgent consideration, the matter being:

The failure of the Government to accord official status to the visit of Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have given careful consideration to the point raised and submitted by Senator Ross. I do not consider it to be a matter contemplated for discussion under Standing Order 29. Therefore I regret that I have to rule it out of order.
