Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 4 Apr 1990

Vol. 124 No. 14

Business of Seanad.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

I have notice from Senator Avril Doyle that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to immediately outline the future employment prospects for all our customs officers in the light of the free trade position in the EC from 1 January 1993, and in regard to his recent announcement concerning the introduction of automatic entry processing and direct trades input on 1 January 1993.

I also received notice from Senator Joe Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to urgently provide permanent accommodation and proper facilities for the pupils of St. Aidan's Christian Brothers secondary school, Whitehall, Dublin 9, to replace the present totally inadequate prefabricated structure which has been in existence for over 20 years.

I also received notice from Senator Dan Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister to initiate a programme to overcome the enormous delays and the deteriorating position in the Land Registry, and the need for the Minister to make a statement on this matter.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Doyle, Costello and Neville as suitable for discussion on the adjournment. I have selected Senator Doyle's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Costello and Neville may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
