Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 6 Jun 1990

Vol. 125 No. 6

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Joe Costello that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to urgently provide permanent accommodation and proper facilities for the pupils of St. Aidan's Christian Brothers Secondary School, Whitehall, Dublin 9, to replace the present totally inadequate prefabricated structure which has been in existence for over 20 years.

I also received notice from Senator Dan Neville of the following matter:

The urgent need for the Minister for Education to fulfil her commitment to the construction of a community school at Rathkeale, County Limerick.

I also received notice from Senator Tom Hussey of the following matter.

The need for the Minister for Finance to consider Tuam, County Galway, as a location for a Government Department as part of decentralisation scheme.

Tá fógra agam ón Seanadóir Pól Ó Foighil:

Go n-éilíonn an tSeanad ar an Aire Cumarsáide a chinntiú go mbeidh foinnsí airgeadais Stáit ar fáil le seirbhís Ghaeilge/Gaeltachta a chur ar fáil láithreach.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Costello, Neville and Hussey as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Costello's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Neville and Hussey may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I regret I have to rule the matter raised by Senator Ó Foighil is not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds that it involves legislation.
