The need for the Minister for Education to investigate the circumstances surrounding the placement of a teacher (details supplied) in County Leitrim on the panel and to request the Minister to give sympathetic consideration to meeting existing staffing levels at Drumshanbo Central Primary School.
I also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:
The urgent need for improved sewerage treatment in Greystones, County Wicklow.
I also received notice from Senator Manning of the following matter:
In view of the continued dissatisfaction among former employees of Irish Shipping, the need for the Minister to outline (a) the number of meetings he had with them in the last year, (b) any planned future meetings, and (c) his plans to respond to representation regarding their position.
I also received notice from Senator Jackman of the following matter:
The need for the Minister for the Environment to notify local authorities immediately of their rates support grant to facilitate local authorities in compiling their estimates.
I also received notice from Senator Raftery of the following matter:
The need for the Government to take immediate action to help more than 6,000 farmers who are having difficulty paying their land annuities as otherwise over 400,000 acres of land will be returned to the State.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Mooney, Ross, Manning, Jackman, Raftery and Cosgrave as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Mooney's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Ross, Manning, Jackman, Raftery and Cosgrave may give notice another day of the matters they which to raise.
I regret I have to rule the matter raised by Senator O'Keeffe as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
