Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 19 Mar 1992

Vol. 131 No. 18

Business of Seanad.

With regard to item No. 2, notwithstanding anything in Standing Orders or proceedings of the House last Thursday, it is proposed, with the agreement of the House, to have further statements on United Meat Packers today; that the speech of each Senator will not exceed 20 minutes and that the Minister be called not later than 3.45 p.m. This means that any Senator may speak on item No. 2 and that the Minister may also contribute.

Could the Leader give us an indication when the debate on the Appropriation Act will be resumed?

There will be further discussion on that matter between the Whips.

Are we to take it that Senators who have already spoken on this item may speak again?

Acting Chairman

My understanding is that it is a new debate and people who spoke last week may do so again. Senator Neville was in possession but as we are starting the debate again it goes back to Senator Hussey.
