Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 8 Apr 1992

Vol. 132 No. 4

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Ó Cuív that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister of Health to make resources available to the Western Health Board to enable them to provide geriatric care in homes that are nearer to the families of the patients.

I also received notice from Senator Cassidy of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make resources available to the Midland Health Board to enable them to provide additional bed spaces for long stay patients at St. Peter's Hospital, Castlepollard, County Westmeath.

I also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Industry and Commerce to ensure that the proposed closure of the Irish Productivity Centre on the 30 April is averted and that adequate support is granted to the centre to continue its successful co-operation between the social partners and Government to improve productivity in Irish industry.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Ó Cuív and Cassidy as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Ó Cuív's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Cassidy may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.

I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Neville as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
