Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 15 Dec 1993

Vol. 138 No. 14

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator McDonagh that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to immediately sanction the appointment of a Timire Gaeilge for County Galway vocational education committee exclusively, as otherwise the committee's programme of Irish language promotions will grind to a halt.

I have also received notice from Senator Sherlock of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to clarify the position in relation to 32 children in third class in Scoil Ghobnatán, Mallow, County Cork, who have been without a teacher since September last.

I have also received notice from Senator Roche of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to intervene in the dispute which has lead to the discontinuation of light, telephone, nursing and other vital services to the senior citizens resident in Clonmallon, Ashford, County Wicklow.

I regard the matters raised by Senators McDonagh and Sherlock as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Roche as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
